Join us and SMMC instructor Ms. Sara for a music tour de force with “Violin At The Movies”! This online music class will violinists how to play and perform the themes to several popular movies that include titles like “Star Wars”, “Harry Potter”, “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Jurasic Park” and more! Ms. Sara presentations will have students absorbed and engaged for each lesson. Students will learn about rhythmical structure of movie themes, scales to cover the notes used in a theme, articulation for bowing and the music itself. Classes will be conducted via the Zoom Meeting application and students will have an opportunity to perform for each other and ask questions during the class.
Ms. Sara Jones originates from Pasadena, CA and began her violin studies at the age of 7. She attended the University of Redlands, where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music, Violin Performance. Besides performing, Sara has been a violin instructor for almost 8 years and has loved every second of it. She currently teaches at Roosevelt Elementary School in San Gabriel. Ms. Sara is in charge of 3rd grade violin, 2nd-5th grade chamber ensemble, and 1st-5th grade dance class. In all her teachings, she uses a traditional approach in her methodology and tries to instill great musical knowledge and passion in her students. She strives to help students become very knowledgeable in playing the violin itself and in music theory, history, ear training, wise practicing, and performance etiquette. In “Violin At The Movies”, Ms. Sara will bring these elements along with an atmosphere of fun and excitement for learning.
